Charles co-runs the Doublestop Music Group in partnership with bassist Ethan Philion. Their performances span a broad range of sizes and instrumentations. They regularly perform in a duo setting and have also performed with Big Bands and every size in between.
They perform a combination of original music and jazz standards and their debut album is due for release this fall.
Charles began working with Ethan during his time at Oberlin College and Conservatory where they both studied with renowned teachers Peter Dominguez, Jay Ashby, Bobby Ferrazza, Dan Wall, Jamey Haddad, Billy Hart, Kim Nazarian, Gerald Cannon, and Gerald Crawford. In the Spring of 2012 the two began performing together as a duo. Since then, they've performed in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC with a variety of groups.
